Jimmie Allen teaches undergraduate photography courses in the Department of Art and Design at Missouri State University. He received his MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his Bachelor’s in Visual Arts from the University of Sydney. His research centers around documentary photography practices including the landscapes of small mid-western communities, and most recently, coverage of the 2024 election in the United States.
Jimmie’s photographs have been exhibited in multiple group and solo shows in the United States. His work has been recognized for inclusion in exhibitions juried by prominent photographers such as Andrew Moore, Henry Horenstein, Linda Connor, and Keith Carter as well as curators from the National Portrait Gallery, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the High Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
